Driver Mobile Intel(R) 915GM-GMS and Intel(R) 2200BG for Windows 7

Based on my experience, to install the notebook with VGA Chipset Mobile Intel (R) 915GM-GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family and the wireless / wifi Intel (R) PRO-Wireless 2200BG Network Connection in Windows 7 is very difficult, because Intel does not support for windows version 7.
For wireless / wifi Intel (R) PRO-Wireless 2200BG Network Connection, Intel just released for windows vista, while for windows 7 does not exist. Even worse for VGA Chipset Mobile Intel (R) 915GM-GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family does not exist for the version of windows vista, Intel only supports up to Windows 2000.
Based on that experience so here I provide drivers VGA Chipset Mobile Intel (R) 915GM-GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family and the wireless / wifi Intel (R) PRO-Wireless 2200BG Network Connection, so my friends who use the two devices above can use it optimal. Here are the steps:

  16. OK i am bookmarking this site. I recently install windows 7 up from Windows XP on my Lenovo Thinkpad z60t and i noticed High CPU usage and my notebook shutdowns down when too many winodws are open and during software installation. In the pass few weeks i have had to lower the acceleration on the card but this doesn't work all the time. I have searched and searched and read and read and strongly believe it is the graphic chip : Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family version : 6.14.0010.4764. Based on Intel site this graphics card is not supported pass windows XP. Now i am tempted to try your driver but i need the assurance that it is virus free, thats all. Download and waiting for a response.

    Thanks

    Pepie

  17. @Pepie : You can see from the comments given. Indeed, not all succeed. But if it contains a virus, there must be something to comment about it. And my advice, please first scan after download. Sorry my english. Good luck and I am waiting your comments... Thank you.

  18. Nove.. I just got in from work, never mind the english i can follow. Ok here is the scoop, I downloaded the first of the two link, which was clean of viruses but the second link from Rapshare either had virus or the website was flagged by Mcafee as a site that carries malicious software. SO i only have the first link you give for the graphics card.

Now, i have a little bit of trouble understanding what i should do. The link from Oron.com, how do i install that? I already have the xp drivers install, i think, but it is giving me hell. So which one link do i install? You know what i will do i will use another computer to download the rapshare file and then scan it locally before move it to my clean installation of Windows 7. Anyway tell me which to install please.

    Pepie.

  19. As of now anyway, both these are in Win7 x86's Windows Update. They installed automatically for me on a Dell Latitude D610, which has both these.

  20. Just installed and testing it. I have several freezing issues with my laptop after I started to use Win 7. My chipset is Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Family. I hope it's fixed now.

  21. Regarding all good will and work of the OP, in providing these drivers, I found out another forum where someone posted a link to download the alleged OFFICIAL Intel 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset drivers for Windows 7. I followed the procedures and it really seems that Intel developed them, but keep it from public by reasons I can't figure out. You just can't find them by accessing Intel website normally. So here is:

"Official windows 7 driver for 915 chipset is at Windows Update Catalog.
Use this one, forget tricks and unofficial things.

    Navigate with IE8 to here

    http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx

and install plugin. Then type Intel Intel 915GM

When you download the file that invilink87 has pointed us to you get a folder with a .cab file in it. Navigate to the .cab file and double-click it to open it, then CTRL-A to 'select all,' and finally right-click any selected entry and choose 'Extract.' Create another folder named something like 'Intel915 unpacked' and that folder is what you use when you go to device manager and install them browsing manually."

The link where I found it is: http://forums.speedguide.net/archive/index.php/t-254529.html

Scroll until the end of the page. It's in the last topics. I installed how it's instructed and my troubleshoot device manager stopped to show a message saying "my graphic card wasn't working properly". I'm still testing and observing if the freezing issue will persist, but It seems that they are the real official unreleased Win 7 drivers for this chipset.

  23. Thought I found the solution…but it doesn’t work. I’m running Windows 7 Enterprise, v6.1.7600 on a Vaio VGN-TX770P. I read all of the blogs…

I downloaded your Ver2. Figured newer would be better…not. I installed, rebooted, uninstalled, multiple times…to no avail. Driver Date: 6/23/06, Ver: 9.1.1.15. It gave me four HW IDs. The first one: PCI/VEN_8086&DEV_4220&SUBSYS_27518086&REV_05. Do you want the other three? I even looked for the install.bat file so I could modify it. Then I discovered it was in the original zip file.

OK. Fine. I downloaded the original zip file. I installed, rebooted, uninstalled, multiple times…again, to no avail. I even opened a CMD window to run the install.bat manually. No difference… The Driver Date: 12/19/07, Ver: 9.0.4.39. It gave me the same four HW IDs.

Not sure what to do next -> figured you would have an idea. I am willing to test anything you come up with.

(This is my first use of Windows 7.)

    Thanks!

Went back and it unzipped and ran again and it rebooted into a perfect full screen on my hopelessly old VAIO that I updated from XP to Windows 7. You are amazing. Donation on its way and my gratitude for ending my countless hours spent trying to fix this problem.

  40. I have a Toshiba M45-S2692 which I'll be upgrading to Win 7 from XP. When I went to the Microsoft Update Catalog and entered Intel Intel 915GM, the driver(s) that are available were "last updated" 10-14-2005; "version" 6.14.10.4410. Is this what I want, has something changed or is the original method in your blog the way to go?

1)Driver update for Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family
    2)Dell Inc. - Video - Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hi Nove, First thank you for the amazing work. After months of scouring the internet I was able to find something that really worked.
I used your drivers on my Sony Vaio VGN290, with Intel 915GM Chipset. I was amazed, surprised and happy with the drivers, as it satisfied my need to get my old laptop running on a decent resolution with Win7.
Problem is after 2 days the display just went weird, now it only uses 1024 x 768, even when booting up from BIOS. I tried re installing default windows xp sp3, with original drivers with no luck. (Its been 3 weeks that I am searching for a solution to reset it back)
Now only 3/4th of my screen is being used. Please help me fix it back to normal. I will bring it down to XP, no more Win 7 for me. Please help me as I am not a computer expert. Thanks a lot in advance.
